UP-TUKS convincingly beat last year’s finalists Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University 4-0 at the Tuks stadium on the 1st of September to book their place in the semi-finals.

Goals from Jeremiah Nkwana, Simbongile Njokwe, Richard Moremi and Thabo Ndlovu sealed the all important victory for UP-TUKS that will see them face off against North West University in a mouth-watering semi-final in Mafikeng in seven days’ time.

UP-TUKS did not waste time as Jeremiah Nkwana’s free kick found the top right corner as early as the 10th minute. 5 minutes later Nkwana provided a pin point cross that saw Simbongile Njokwe rise the highest to head past Lindsay Jennings to make it 2 for the hosts.

NMMU applied pressure but failed to trouble UP-TUKS goal minder Lebohang Ngubeni. Jarryd Van Den Berg started a counter attack as he lobbed the ball to the Lanky Lucky Mathosi who crossed for Richard Moremi who then tapped the ball into the net five minutes before halftime.

The Madibaz tried to fight back in the second half but the home team’s defence stood strong and defended well the entire second half. It was UP-TUKS however that had the final say as Thabo Ndlovu dribbled past a dejected NMMU goal keeper to make it 4-0 in the latter stages of the match.
