The third day of the USSA Nationals saw some entertaining football from both UP-TUKS teams. The ladies team played out to a 2-2 draw against the University of Western Cape. Jade Pereira continued her goal scoring form after she notched one today along with Captain Jabulile Mazibuko.

The male team began the day with a narrow 1-0 win against the University Of Kwazulu Natal courtesy of a Mbongeni Masilela goal. The team ensured top spot in their group to pit themselves against their nemesis the Tshwane University of Technology Polokwane Campus in the quarterfinals later on the day.

The lads put in a spirited performance against TUT Polokwane and were in a rampant mood as they scored 4 unanswered goals to march on to the semi-finals. Goals from Botshelo Mfulwane, Richard Moremi and a brace from Jeremiah Nkwana sealed the win for UP-TUKS.

The defence of UP-TUKS has been in red hot form as they are yet to concede a goal in the tournament after 4 matches. Head coach Evangelos Vellios and his technical had to prepare their squads carefully as teams were required to play two matches on the third day of the tournament.
