Defending champions UP-TUKS managed to get back to winning ways after beating the University Of Limpopo 5-1 at the Tuks stadium on the 11th of August

Goals from Lindsay stowman, Simbongile Njokwe, Jeremiah Nkwana and a brace from Botshelo Mfulwane sealed the three points for UP-TUKS.

The match started off tense as the two teams sized each other up. Simbongile Njokwe had the first real chance for UP-TUKS, his header flashed wide of the goal. Limpopo had a great opportunity to take the lead after a swift counter-attack that prompted goalkeeper Nicholas Stothard to pull off a fine save to keep the score level.

Jeremiah Nkwana linked up well with speedy winger Richard Moremi who produced a pin-point cross that found the lanky striker Botshelo Mfulwane who headed the ball past the goalkeeper to put his side in the lead in the 18th minute. Jeremiah Nkwana unleashed a powerful shot from a set-piece that was handled well by the Limpopo goalkeeper Jonathan Gole in the 20th minute. UP-TUKS continued to show their aerial prowess when Botshelo Mfulwane made it two for the hosts through another header in the 26th minute. Mahlatsi Mogale had a bicycle kick that went over in the 29th minute.

The University Of Limpopo pulled one back in the 40th minute when a long ball was met by Clyde Kgatla who headed past Nicholas Stothard to make it 2-1. Jeremiah Nkwana’s free kicks continued to threaten as he fired one that went agonizingly over in the 45th minute.

Simbongile Njokwe made it 3-1 for UP-TUKS in the 55th minute when he toe-poked the ball into the net from close range after a goalmouth scramble. The fourth goal came from fullback Lindsay Stowman who caught the goalkeeper off his line to calmly guide the ball into the back of the net.

Jeremiah Nkwana gave UP-TUKS the final say after his shot rattled the net in stoppage time to make it 5-1.
