SPARTAK READY FOR UPHILL BATTLE


Champions of the SAB Regional League in Tshwane Spartak FC, continue with their quest to be promoted to the ABC Motsepe League. The team convincingly won the SAB regional league with three matches to spare and beat Thaba Tshwane 2-0 who were the winners of the other stream. 

Spartak now continue with their journey to the semi-professional league which is the ABC Motsepe league as they begin with the provincial play-offs against winners of the other four regions in Gauteng. Five teams will go head to head in a round robin system which serves as a mini-league, the top two teams will then be promoted to the ABC Motsepe league.

The play-offs are scheduled to take place at the Muckleneuk grounds in Mamelodi and they kick-off on the 18th of July. Spartak FC will take on the winners of the West Rand region at 09:30 am on field 1, they will then face off against the winners of the Ekurhuleni region at 14:00 pm.

The rest of the matches will be played on the 25th and the 26th of July at the same venue where it will be decided who will be promoted. Spartak fc who are an affiliate team to the University Of Pretoria Football Club who compete in the highest level of football in South Africa feel it is time for them to get promoted as they have been unsuccessful on two occasions.  

Head coach Tlisane Motaung feels the team are looking confident going into the crucial play-offs, “Preparations have been well and smooth, we are ready to do battle and our players have reported back from international duty and the belief is that we need all six points will be key tomorrow because these play-offs play concurrently with Varsity Football so it is very important to collect maximum points tomorrow”.
