Barker's Beat - AmaTuks vs Supersport

A warm welcome once again to everyone in attendance this afternoon, I hope and trust the game this afternoon will be an entertaining one.

We have had a relatively good start to our debut PSL season with a draw and a win in our first two games. We are still disappointed in not winning our first game having conceded so late in the match. The players however have showed tremendous character in bouncing back with a win away to Golden Arrows. The performance against Arrows was characterized with tremendous commitment, team work and resilience. It was fantastic to register our first PSL victory in only our second match.

The squad is now finalised for the season. We are confident that the squad has the required quality and depth to make us competitive in a very tough league. There is also a good balance between the youth and experience with the average age of the squad being 25. We are further excited by the character and attitude shown by the players. There is a strong sense of unity and willingness to work hard and to be successful.

Today we play against a formidable opponent. Firstly I would like to congratulate Supersport United on reaching the MTN 8 final. In my opinion, Supersport has been the most consistent team since the inception of the premiership. Having never finished in the outside the top 8, and most recently in the last five years having won the league 3 times, Nedbank champions last season and now playing in the MTN 8 final. They have a very good coach with vast experience, and a squad filled with quality and depth.

We however have taken confidence from our previous matches and have the desire and belief to be victorious today. We need to be positive and take the game to Supersport United. We need a performance of high quality, commitment and willingness to give 100%. Nothing less than this will surface.

I am however confident that we will make our home ground a fortress and make life very uncomfortable for all opposition.

Please get behind the team as much as you can. We need you our supporters to provide us with your vocal support. Together let us make this ground a difficult place to come to for our opponents.

All the best and thanks for the attending the match.

Yours in Football,

Steve Barker
