Barker's Beat - AmaTuks vs Sundowns

Good afternoon to all in attendance this afternoon, we welcome your continued support.

We host Mamelodi Sundowns shortly after a midweek loss to AmaZulu. The game against AmaZulu was very frustrating and disappointing as we did not deserve the loss. We had to deal with atrocious conditions, a hostile crowd and many officiating decisions not going our way. The players once again could not be faulted for the committed performance they gave.

It is a very tough league and things will not always go your way so we need to lift ourselves up immediately, starting with today's match.

Both teams are desperate for the win. We need to and must get our first home win sooner rather than later. We are determined to put in a good performance this afternoon. We were not entirely at our best against Sundowns in the Telkom Knockout defeat and want to correct that. We have a very united and committed team which demonstrates great character week in and week out. What we lack in terms of experience we make up in terms of our desire to win football matches.

We respect Sundowns regardless of their league position. They have good, quality experienced players who are all match winners in their own right. We will however not fear them. Perhaps in our last encounter we showed them too much respect. It is important that we impose our game plan on them and play with the confidence that we have shown in other matches this season.

Due to the loan agreement with Sundowns, three key players will not be available for selection. This offers the opportunity for some other players to put their hand up and make use of the opportunity to impress and take a claim for a continued starting position.

I encourage you to get behind the team with vigour and enthusiasm. This will encourage and help the players perform to their full potential.

Enjoy the game and we will be doing out utmost to reward you for your support with a victory.

Yours in Football,

Steve Barker
