Barker's Beat - AmaTuks vs Platinum Stars

Once again I would like to extend a warm welcome to everyone in attendance this evening.

We have had a good solid start to the season. I need to say from the outset that the tremendous support the team has received since gaining promotion has helped us tremendously. The technical and operations Staff of the team has worked really hard over the last months to ensure the competitiveness of the team.

The players however deserve most of the credit for the good start to the season. Their commitment, drive, togetherness and willingness to sacrifice and work hard for the team has been outstanding. It is very important that we continue in this vain and remain focused on each and every game.

Our previous match against Moroka Swallows was an especially satisfying result. We were somehow unfortunate in the 2009 Nedbank final against Moroka Swallows so it was good to get one over them. Mame Niang made a tremendous impact for the team on his debut. The players stuck to the game plan and worked hard for one another and fully deserved the result.

This evening we play against another well-established PSL team in Platinum Stars. They are an ambitious club who would have wanted a better start to the season. They will be a difficult opponent desperate for much needed points.

This is however our home game which we need to approach with the same determination as our previous matches. We need to demonstrate the required belief and confidence and take the initiative. It is vitally important this evening that we collect our first maximum points at home.

Please get behind the team and support them as much as possible. We need to make our home ground a fortress and a difficult place for opponents to come too. We will do our best on the field and you, our valued supporters must help us from the stands.

Thank you for attending and I am looking forward to our supporters fast becoming the best in the country.

Yours in football,

Steve Barker
