A late strike from Pogiso Mahlangu salvaged a point for AmaTuks as they drew 2-all with Real Kings FC at the Tuks Stadium on Sunday Afternoon.
AmaTuks were quickest out of the block and had the first goal scoring opportunity of the match as early as the second minute. AmaTuks played a short corner and October whipped in a cross which found Mthethwa on the edge of the 6 yard box and in front of goal but his header was straight at the keeper.
AmaTuks had two one-on-one situations in quick succession with the keeper; first with Burds then with Moseki but neither could make use of the opportunity.
AmaTuks kept applying pressure on the visitors and were rewarded in the 16th minute of the match. Moseki's shot from inside the penalty arc bounced off the foot of the upright and the ball fell to Nemukondeni to the right of the penalty box. His shot was blocked by the defender and the loose ball fell to Gordinho and his stunning volley from 35 yards out beat Ndwandwe low to his right for the game's opening goal.
The happiness lasted only five minutes however; when AmaTuks were caught ball watching and allowed Motsepe to header home the equaliser. The only two minutes later Kings were awarded a penalty and Ndlovu stepped up and slotted it past Coetsee to give the visitors lead in the 22nd minute.
AmaTuks surged forward for the equaliser but Kings were able to absorb the pressure and take the 1-goal lead into the half time break.
At the start of the second half the visitors had the upper hand, launching attack after attack but AmaTuks absorbed the pressure and were more patient in their buildup. While on the ascendency, captain Mmiseni Ndlovu got himself sent off for stomping on Gordinho's knee. That one-man advantage was nullified in the 66th minute however, when Moloi received a second yellow card and also received his marching orders. Both teams were down to ten men for the remaining 30 minutes of the match.
Right at the death AmaTuks won a throw-in near the corner flag. Jackson sent in a long throw and the clearing header didn't have the distance. The ball fell to Mahlangu on the edge of the penalty arc and his volley beat Ndwandwe for the equaliser. With 4 minutes of the referee's optional time added, AmaTuks pushed everyone forward in search of the winning goal but it was not to be and the match ended in a draw.
